En los últimos 160 años, madres voluntarias y trabajadoras son el activo del Movimiento Internacional de la Cruz Roja y la Media Luna Roja con su diligente compromiso y pasión por servir a la humanidad. Estas voluntarias y trabajadoras son las primeras en entrar y las últimas en salir de las comunidades afectadas por los conflictos armados, otras situaciones de violencia y crisis. Ellas trabajan estrechamente con estas comunidades afectadas para abordar sus necesidades, utilizando su experiencia para responder ante estas últimas, rápida y eficazmente, bajo los principios de humanidad, imparcialidad y neutralidad.
Over the last 160 years, mothers’ volunteers and workers are the asset of the Red Cross and Red Crescent International Movement with their diligent pledge and passion to serve humanity. These volunteers and workers are the first to enter and the last to leave affected communities by armed conflict, other situations of violence and crisis. They work closely with these affected communities to meet their needs, using their expertise to respond to the latter, quickly and effectively, under the principles of humanity, impartiality and neutrality.

Yanina es una mujer de 38 años, madre de 5 hijos, soy coordinadora encargada de servicios generales de la Cruz Roja Panameña, tengo 3 años siendo parte del movimiento de Cruz Roja.
Ver el sufrimiento humano también, ser parte de la ayuda, del apoyo ahora, de gestionar que se vaya mercancía para que las personas puedan tener para comer, para su higiene, tengan donde dormir, los medicamentos. Ser parte de eso siento que es la mejor experiencia que he tenido en esta vida.
Ser madre de 5 niños… sí, este puesto exige un poco, demanda un poco, al igual que ser mamá. Es algo que uno trata de encontrar el punto intermedio, la balanza entre estoy aquí, estoy gestionando cosas, pero siempre pensando en que también tengo mis niños y saber cómo están, la escuela y también estando aquí, puede ser que tenga mil cosas en la cabeza, pero… estoy allá.

Yanina is a 38-year-old woman, mother of 5 children, I am the coordinator in charge of general services for the Panamanian Red Cross, I have been part of the Red Cross movement for 3 years.
To see the human suffering also, to be part of the help, of the support now, to manage the merchandise so that people can have enough to eat, for their hygiene, have a place to sleep, medicines. Being part of that is the best experience I have had in my life.
Being a mother of 5 children... yes, this position requires a little, it demands a little, just like being a mother. It is something that one tries to find the middle ground, the balance between I am here, I am managing things, but always thinking that I also have my children and know how they are, school and being here, I may have a thousand things on my mind, but... I am there.
