En los últimos 160 años, madres voluntarias y trabajadoras son el activo del Movimiento Internacional de la Cruz Roja y la Media Luna Roja con su diligente compromiso y pasión por servir a la humanidad. Estas voluntarias y trabajadoras son las primeras en entrar y las últimas en salir de las comunidades afectadas por los conflictos armados, otras situaciones de violencia y crisis. Ellas trabajan estrechamente con estas comunidades afectadas para abordar sus necesidades, utilizando su experiencia para responder ante estas últimas, rápida y eficazmente, bajo los principios de humanidad, imparcialidad y neutralidad.
Over the last 160 years, mothers’ volunteers and workers are the asset of the Red Cross and Red Crescent International Movement with their diligent pledge and passion to serve humanity. These volunteers and workers are the first to enter and the last to leave affected communities by armed conflict, other situations of violence and crisis. They work closely with these affected communities to meet their needs, using their expertise to respond to the latter, quickly and effectively, under the principles of humanity, impartiality and neutrality.

Lupita Jurado, madre de 3 hijos. 2 varones ya adultos, uno de 24, uno de 20 años y una niña de 10 años. Mi rol como madre ha sido una experiencia con altas y bajas porque no nacemos con los conocimientos para ser madres, lo vamos aprendiendo a medida que vamos teniendo nuestros hijos.
Bueno, en realidad, no lo llamaría como un reto, sería más bien un balance, lo podemos poner así, un balance entre ser madre y estar en la institución, hay que saber llevar ambos papeles porque en realidad es cuestión de organización. Nos organizamos para ser parte de la Cruz Roja, nos organizamos para ser mamás y tratamos de cumplir con ambas tareas.

Lupita Jurado, mother of 3 children. Two adult boys, one 24, one 20 years old and a 10-year-old girl. My role as a mother has been an experience with ups and downs because we are not born with the knowledge to be mothers, we learn as we have our children.
Well, I would not call it a challenge, it would be more of a balance, we can put it like this, a balance between being a mother and being in the institution, you must know how to carry both roles because it is really a matter of organization. We organize ourselves to be part of the Red Cross, we organize ourselves to be mothers and we try to fulfill both tasks.
