En los últimos 160 años, madres voluntarias y trabajadoras son el activo del Movimiento Internacional de la Cruz Roja y la Media Luna Roja con su diligente compromiso y pasión por servir a la humanidad. Estas voluntarias y trabajadoras son las primeras en entrar y las últimas en salir de las comunidades afectadas por los conflictos armados, otras situaciones de violencia y crisis. Ellas trabajan estrechamente con estas comunidades afectadas para abordar sus necesidades, utilizando su experiencia para responder ante estas últimas, rápida y eficazmente, bajo los principios de humanidad, imparcialidad y neutralidad.
Over the last 160 years, mothers’ volunteers and workers are the asset of the Red Cross and Red Crescent International Movement with their diligent pledge and passion to serve humanity. These volunteers and workers are the first to enter and the last to leave affected communities by armed conflict, other situations of violence and crisis. They work closely with these affected communities to meet their needs, using their expertise to respond to the latter, quickly and effectively, under the principles of humanity, impartiality and neutrality.

Eneida es una joven colonense de familia paterna santeña, pero muy arraigada a sus raíces colonenses a pesar de tener una “carátula santeña. Abogada de profesión y madres de tres pequeñitos que le ensenan día a día muchas cosas.
Para mí, ser parte del Movimiento Internacional de la Cruz Roja creo que es haber llegado a donde la vida me había estado preparando. Lo largo de mi vida profesional he realizado muchas actividades incomprendidas, siempre en busca de la ayuda de grupos vulnerables, pero no lo veía de esta manera pues en la línea del Derecho suele tenerse otra visión respecto a estas actividades y, pues, a nivel personal o profesional y familiar también. Entonces, el haber realizado actividades en áreas muy complejas como la violencia sexual, la migración, la detención… no era algo tan comprendido, pero al llegar a esta organización he entendido que me estaba preparando para estar aquí.
Al ser madre y cruzrojista hay muchos retos, creo que el principal es el tiempo; cómo dividir los roles porque definitivamente no se pueden cumplir todos al 100% para poder dar lo mejor de sí, así que es buscar este equilibrio entre estas facetas sobre todo porque se correlacionan porque lo que mis hijos me ven a mí hacer a nivel personal y profesional es lo que ellos van a entender que es una vida profesional. Me encanta la idea que me vean hacer algo que me gusta, de hecho, es algo que entiende mi hija de mi trabajo, me lo ha manifestado de esta manera a su corta edad y me dice “qué rico es poder trabajar y que te paguen por ayudar a personas”; esta es su percepción entonces creo que es una responsabilidad importante y equilibrada.

Eneida is a young colonense from a Santeña paternal family, but very rooted to her colonense roots despite having a "Santeña face”. She is a lawyer by profession and mother of three little ones who teach her many things every day.
For me, being part of the International Red Cross Movement is to have arrived where life had been preparing me. Throughout my professional life I have carried out many misunderstood activities, always seeking to help vulnerable groups, but I did not see it this way because in the line of law there is usually another vision regarding these activities and, well, at a personal or professional and family level as well. So, having carried out activities in very complex areas such as sexual violence, migration, detention... it was not something I understood, but when I came to this organization, I understood that I was preparing myself to be here.
Being a mother and a red cross worker there are many challenges, I think the main one is time; how to divide the roles because you cannot fulfill all of them 100% to be able to give the best of yourself, so it is to seek this balance between these facets especially because they correlate because what my children see me do on a personal and professional level is what they will understand that it is a professional life. I love the idea that they see me doing something that I like, in fact, it is something that my daughter understands about my work, she has expressed it to me in this way at her young age and she tells me "how nice it is to be able to work and get paid for helping people"; this is her perception, so I think it is an important and balanced responsibility.
