En los últimos 160 años, madres voluntarias y trabajadoras son el activo del Movimiento Internacional de la Cruz Roja y la Media Luna Roja con su diligente compromiso y pasión por servir a la humanidad. Estas voluntarias y trabajadoras son las primeras en entrar y las últimas en salir de las comunidades afectadas por los conflictos armados, otras situaciones de violencia y crisis. Ellas trabajan estrechamente con estas comunidades afectadas para abordar sus necesidades, utilizando su experiencia para responder ante estas últimas, rápida y eficazmente, bajo los principios de humanidad, imparcialidad y neutralidad.
Over the last 160 years, mothers’ volunteers and workers are the asset of the Red Cross and Red Crescent International Movement with their diligent pledge and passion to serve humanity. These volunteers and workers are the first to enter and the last to leave affected communities by armed conflict, other situations of violence and crisis. They work closely with these affected communities to meet their needs, using their expertise to respond to the latter, quickly and effectively, under the principles of humanity, impartiality and neutrality.

I’m Larissa Rodriguez, well, I’m a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and a friend.
Being part of the International Movement of the Red Cross, to me, is giving, is service, but foremost, is action. Taking actions looking after those in vulnerable situations, always.
The challenges I face are basically to try to bring a message to my family, to my daughters, I am the mother of two daughters, that the time we have is quality time, because many times their mother cannot be with them. And sometimes they complain "so much time at the red cross" but little by little I have managed to make them understand that it is an investment in time, in quality and I would like to leave them the example that serving humanity is the best legacy we can have.

Para mí ser parte del movimiento internacional de la cruz roja, es entrega, es servicio, pero, sobre todo, es acción. Siempre acción tendiente a las personas más vulnerables, sobre todo.
Los retos o desafíos que enfrento básicamente son, tratar de llevar un mensaje a mi familia, a mis hijas, soy madre de dos hijas, que el tiempo que tengamos es un tiempo de calidad, porque muchas veces su mamá no puede estar con ellas. Y a veces reclaman “tanto tiempo en la cruz roja” pero poco a poco he logrado que entiendan que es una inversión en tiempo, en calidad y quisiera dejarles el ejemplo de que servir a la humanidad es el mejor legado que podemos tener.
